Cooking, Quilting, and Other Creature Comforts

There are many recipes, patterns, and a multitude of other things to make our homes cosy and welcoming. This is my cosy corner of good things to eat and other "creature comforts"; things just to make our families, and ourselves, feel good.

Mill Woods House

A lifetime of memories, at least for the youngest who was actually born in this house.  Many many memories for all the others.  And a house waiting for another family to live in and love it.  From the front it looks like so many of the houses in the area.  In the back, a mini paradise garden.

Butterfly Rugs

Butterfly Rugs
Made by a friend of strips of t-shirting, crocheted into shapes as rugs for two of my granddaughters. They are soft and squishy.
There are those people who are wise...and those who are otherwise.

Mitering a Corner

I thought I'd post this link to how to sew a tidy mitered border on a quilt, for all the people who blame me for addicting them to quilting :>). I read this somewhere in a book, but looked it up on line where you can see it too if you need to know.

Finally the violets are starting to bloom again. Can't remember where I put the fertilizer, but they did this on their own.

Music Memories

My oldest daughter told me she is practicing piano again. It took me back many years.
Fur Elise. The Swan. The Homecoming. Those songs always remind me of warm spring days, early spring, before the grass is fully green, but the wind is wonderfully warm. I have the door at the farm open, and great gusts of balmy wind breeze through the house. I am baking something in the kitchen, and someone is practicing on the piano in the living room. Over and over the stanzas happen, a little farther, and a little better every time. The sweet notes of the songs mingle with the other senses, and it produces a feeling that all is well and as it should be. I do love those songs.

Someone slap me; I started another one and the selvedge one isn't done yet. But I am working on it, honest I am.
